AFC Groundhoppers hit with injuries before Craven Park visit
As we head into our second competitive fixture of the new season at home to Craven Park the physio room is starting to get a little too busy for the clubs liking. During pre-season one of our most influential players in the last few seasons Sam Jacques has been out and is not expected to return this Weekend although rumour has it we can expect him back in the yellow & blue shirt around October time which would definitely be a welcomed boost.
With new signing Anthony is still not ready to participate in his first competitive fixture and Joe Phillips unavailable until next month we will be stretched defensively this Weekend. If that was not bad enough Ben Phillips is the latest player to hit the treatment table and is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks with soft tissue damage and bruised ligaments which he sustained at training on Tuesday.
Denzil Rolle is currently 50/50 after picking up a thigh strain last Sunday but he will be eager to be involved against his old club while Marcus Black is still in discomfort with his shoulder but should pass a late fitness test. If both can be involved against tricky opponents then Hoppers would be in a good position to take maximum points.

Stats:

AFC Groundhoppers have played against Craven Park four-times over the course of four years, losing 2, winning 1 and drawing 1.

October 2015: Lost at home 5-0
October 2015: Drew away 2-2
October 2016: Won away 4-1
April 2017: Lost at home 5-3
History may suggest that Craven Park have the edge who also won their first league game of the season 4-2 away FC Elmstead (1958) but history means nothing in Sunday League Football.
Premier Division Fixtures 16/09/18 (Prediction)
Greencourt vs Club Langley (3-1)
Metrogas vs FC Elmstead (3-0)
Message from the Gaffa:
“Guys home game this Sunday v Craven Park, please be there for 09:30. Decent warm-up, back in changing room before we kick off, same attitude as Ex-Blues game not last weeks! Don’t forget subs and your bollocks!”
Looking forward to a highly contested game against Craven Park on Sunday, hopefully the boys can produce the goods!
