LEND ME YOU'RE EARS 31/10/18

Managers notes...

We're only 2-months into the new season and so far it's been a very topsy-turvy ride for AFC Groundhoppers. Much of the same squad from last year re-signed for the club but we have also had some excellent additions that have raised expectations. Darren 'The Gaffa' Phillips gives his verdict on the season so far, Hoppers memories and what he expects from the lads this season;

"What excites me most this season is we have more pace and more competition for places which is always a good thing. We need to improve mainly on finishing but we’re creating more chances than anyone were playing but our conversion ratio needs to improve.

"The best performance this season was our first game against Ex-Blues but my most memorable game was a double header verses Kenningwell United, who had already won league and London cup. We beat them in both games with ex premier league ref Steve Bennett officiating.

"Worst performance for us this season was against Woolwich Arsenal where we self imploded, however massive credit to the opposition who capitalised in all our shortfalls.

"Quite a few players have improved and impressed this season notably ‘Peter Reid’ who is putting in shifts beyond his years. Kavan Burton who at 18 is an amazing talent who will only get better and Denz (Rolle) who has scored more goals this season than he has for the last 4!

"The season so far has been frustrating! We have thrown some points away that we shouldn’t have done, but in a couple of games we have looked outstanding. A successful season would be to have a good cup run and get promoted."
