AFC Groundhoppers (1) vs Greencourt (1)

Bolger

AFC Groundhoppers welcomed Greencourt to home ground Sydenham Sports looking to get back to winning ways after a poor performance last weekend.

With the squad stripped down to its bare bones ‘gaffa’ Darren Phillips had to start the game with only 10 players available to start.

Within 10 mins Tom Bolger was released by Joe Willis who finished expertly on the half volley to give Hoppers an early lead. Taking into consideration last weeks early lead Hoppers were eager to make sure they did not give anything silly away.

Unfortunately, on the half hour mark Greencourt won a dubious penalty. Stand-in goalkeeper Sam Dangerfield came close to stopping the spot kick, but the ball was squeezed in by Frankie Beale to make it 1-1.

Hoppers pushed all the way in the second half and were unlucky not to nick the win. Greencourt did not pose much of a threat but were always in the game with the scores dead level. Neither side could find a winning goal, but AFC GH will be happy to have come away with the point considering the waffer-thin squad.

On another positive note Sam Jacques managed to get 90-mins under his belt after coming back from injury. He will be a great asset to the squad in the next coming months.

Dangerfield and Bolger were both in fine form and deserve massive recognition for their performances, sharing the man of the match awards.

Onto next week away to Woolwich Arsenal where hopefully we can get out a strong side capable of getting us back on track for the season.
